This volume first oultines communication models and ethical requirements for communication processes such as public sphere, democracy, freedom. In a following part it considers norm violations in the form of propaganda, populism, disinformation and anti-Semitism. The section on controversies deals with the reflection of dissent, reffering to debates on cancel culture and cultural appropriation, among others. Additionally, debate spaces in the form of talk shows and tabloid formats are discussed, in which these controversies are discussed. The final section, shows ways towards a constructive debate culture and presents initiatives that report on and support people who are affected by misanthropic acts. The book addresses students of media and communication studies and the social sciences.
